Celebrations surrounding Yongdzin Lopon Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche’s Centenary

This year many sangha members, friends and scholars have gathered in Triten Norbutse Bonpo Monastery, Kathmandu, to celebrate Yongdzin Rinpoche’s 100th birthday.

Zhang Zhung Losar

The festivities began with a joyful 2-day event marking Zhang Zhung Losar, with many songs, feasting and much laughter as well as offerings of sangchӧ and auspicious prayers.

Four days of intensive rituals

For four full days, rituals were held in two of the monastery’s largest halls, the New Temple, and the Assembly Hall. The practitioners in the New Temple followed the rab ne consecration ritual while those packed into the Assembly Hall recited the Drenpa Namkha long life sadhana.

Consecration of the New Temple

The New Temple was officially opened by Yongdzin Rinpoche himself amid a huge crowd from all over the world.

Mandala Offering

The following day, Yongdzin Rinpoche once again graced us with his presence, and patiently received long lines of devotees with their offerings. The whole day was full of prayers for Yongdzin Rinpoche’s continuing long life, and in the evening there was a concert with special songs dedicated to Rinpoche. Actually, the FPYB team had a sneak preview of one of the songs, and helped to raise funds to record this wonderful video. We also translated the English subtitles.

We all join in wishing Yongdzin Rinpoche firm health and thank him once again for his ceaseless compassion and wisdom!

Beautiful song and words, who is the singer and who filmed?
Unfortunately I collapsed right after Rinpoche’s mandala offering but so grateful having been able to attend these truly precious moments in the presence of our beloved master and may others.
    EMAHO thanks for your work

Sorry to hear you had a health issue. Wishing you a swift recovery! Words for the song were written by Kalsang Losal, one of the Rinpoche’s assistants. Composer and singer is Sonam Tobden. English translation was done by us. And everything was organised by Largen Lama.
