Tomorrow, 16th day of the 4th Tibetan month, marks one year since Yongdzin Lopön Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche entered the state of tugdam and passed into Great Bliss.

In his monastery Triten Norbutse in Kathmandu, the monks, nuns and lay practitioners are devoting two days to commemorating this occasion, with rituals, prayers and devotion being offered in all the monastery temples.

Holy Relics

Two new chorten now house Yongdzin Rinpoche’s holy relics.

Built on top of the structure constructed for the cremation last August, the 3-storey dungkhang contains 3 mandalas and an eternal flame behind glass panels on the lower level. The butter lamp was lit from the cremation fire and has been burning continuously ever since.

The next level contains Yongdzin Rinpoche’s sungbum, many volumes of his writing, as well as precious herbal pills and a small chorten. The top level houses a statue of Rinpoche.

The second chorten, now installed in the small temple beside Yongdzin Rinpoche’s bedroom above the new main temple, holds many precious relics, gold, lotus petals, torma, tsa-tsa and other auspicious items.

In Europe

For many years, Yongdzin Rinpoche spent months in Shenten Dargye Ling, the international Bönpo centre in France, and so his passing into Great Bliss will be honoured here in accordance with the Gregorian calendar, on 12th June.

There will be a full day of prayers and practices open to all, and a new chorten with holy relics will be installed as a place where Rinpoche’s western students can show their devotion.
