The Clear Lamp of the Signs of Death: Oral Teachings by Yongdzin Rinpoche
We are pleased to share that a new book of teachings by Yongdzin Lopön Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche is out today!
Shedrub Lopön Lodrö Tsugphü recently led a seminar on this text in Germany, and following requests from both organisers and participants, we are making this detailed manual available.
The book is a compilation of teachings on འཆི་རྟགས་གསལ་བའི་སྒྲོན་མ། The Clear Lamp of the Signs of Death by Lishu Tagring but also includes Rinpoche’s original drawings as well as his additional teachings on how to avert bad signs and omens, how to appease malign entities, how to pay off karmic debts and the importance of helping the deceased.
One powerful method is the short zung of Dugkar (གདུགས་དཀར།), White Umbrella, called Dharani of the Flaming Topknot. Drubdra Khenpo Tsultrim Tenzin kindly provided us with the Tibetan text, which Dmitry promptly translated and prepared for this booklet.
Thanks to illustrations, photos and clear instructions for making simple or complex ransoms, plus tables for calculating the ‘enemy direction,’ this manual will enable serious practitioners to recognise signs of approaching death and avert them.
As Yongdzin Rinpoche himself says, these are very powerful rituals and it is our heartfelt intention that practitioners may be empowered to carry out this ransom offering themselves, thereby smoothing their own path to Buddhahood and benefiting all sentient beings.
