Parinirvana of Buddha Tönpa Shenrab Miwoche

Today (9th month, 30th day) we are celebrating Nyangenledepa (mya ngan las ‘das pa) / Parinirvana of Tönpa Shenrab Miwoche, Buddha of Yungdrung Bön. So it is fitting to read some of his words to his followers, as translated by Yongdzin Rinpoche:

Dhorpatan: home to the first Bönpo Medical School in exile. Please help

Many of us have benefited from the herbal medicines prepared by the clinic attached to Triten Norbutse Monastery but perhaps not so many know the history of this medical school. The first medical school and clinic were actually established back In 1987 in the refugee settlement of Dhorpatan, Nepal at the request of Yongdzin Rinpoche and 33rd Menri Tridzin Rinpoche by Dr. Tsultrim Sanggye. Today we are celebrating the anniversary of Buddha Shakyamuni’s Birth, Enlightenment and Parinirvana. Gautama Buddha is, according to Yungdrung Bon, an emanation of Sangwa Düpa who was a disciple of Buddha Tönpa Shenrab Miwo.
