Period of intensive Drenpa Namkha practice

Today marks the start of an 8-day intensive practice of Drenpa Namkha in Triten Norbutse Monastery, Kathmandu, Nepal.

Drenpa Namkha is a great Yungdrung Bön mahasiddha who manifested many forms in many different places over millennia, and who saved Yungdrung Bön from destruction when the doctrines faced persecution more than once, Yongdzin Lopön Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche (1926-2025) is considered an incarnation of Drenpa Namkha and he, too, worked tirelessly to restore and preserve Yungdrung Bön in Tibet and beyond when the tradition was in dire need because of the Cultural Revolution.

Practising together

Those who received initiation and/or lung can join in the Drenpa Namkha practice from wherever they are. The rituals in Triten Norbutse are centered around the text ཁོད་སྤུངས་དྲན་པའི་སྙིང་ཐིག་གསང་སྒྲུབ་ཅེས་བྱ་བ་བཞུགས་པ་ལེགས་སོ།། THE SECRET PRACTICE OF KHÖPUNG DRENPA’S INNERMOST ESSENCE. The Tibetan-English practice booklet is available from Restricted Publications section on FPYB website. We have also publsihed an essential practice Short Drenpa Namkha Tsogchö and Essential Practice and Explanation of the Long-Life Mantra of Drenpa Namkha for those with transmission.

If you do not yet have transmission for these practices, you still can participate by reading Prayer to Lachen Drenpa Namkha, which includes his essential mantra. This booklet in English as well as in Spanish and French, available as FREE DOWNLOAD or printed booklets from Prayers & Practices page of FPYB website.
