Kyabje Yongdzin Lopön Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche’s Birthday Anniversary
Today, on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month, we celebrate an official birthday of Kyabje Yongdzin Lopön Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche, the Head Teacher of Yungdrung Bön. Rinpoche is 97 according to the Western system and 98 according to Tibetan system, in which age calculated from conception.

ཨེ་མ་ཧོ།
EMAHO
Marvellous!
བསླབ་གསུམ་བསྟན་པའི་བདག་ཉིད་འགྲོ་བའི་མགོན།
LAB SUM TEN PAI DAG NYI DRO WAI GÖN
Oh, Lord of the Doctrine of the Three Trainings and the Protector of beings,
ཀུན་མཁྱེན་ཉི་དབང་རྣམ་རོལ་དགོངས་རྩལ་རྫོགས།
KÜN KHYEN NYI WANG NAM ROL GONG TSAL DZOG
the emanation of the omniscient Nyima Tenzin Wanggi Gyalpo
with perfect Power and Knowledge!
མདོ་སྡེ་སྔགས་ཀྱི་གནས་ལུགས་རྫོགས་པ་ཆེ།
DÖ DE NGAG KYI NEI LUG DZOG PA CHE
The Teachings of Sutra, Tantra and the Natural State of Dzogchen
བསྟན་པ་འཛིན་སྐྱོངའཕྲིན་ལས་རྣམ་པར་དག
TEN PA DZIN KYONG TRIN LE NAM PAR DAG
are upheld by your pure Activities!
ཡོངས་འཛིན་སྨྲ་བའི་དབང་པོར་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས།།
YONG DZIN MA WAI WANG POR SOL WA DEB
I pray to you Yongdzin Rinpoche, Great Powerful Lord of Speech!
And here are some words of Yongdzin Rinpoche’s advice:
༼རྣམ་རྟོག་སྐྱེས་པ་ཙམ་གྱིས་ཙམ་གྱིས་སྐྱོན་ཆེན་པོ་མེད།
“Discursive thought which creates phenomenal existence is not a great fault [in and of itself].
རྣམ་རྟོག་སྐྱེས་པ་དེ་དག་གི་རྗེས་འཛིན་བྱས་ན་སྐྱོན་ཆེན་པོ་ཡོད།
But if one follows it then that is the great fault.
འཁོར་བར་འཁོར་བ་ཡང་རྣམ་རྟོག་གི་རྗེས་འཛིན་བྱས་པས་ཡིན།༽
Samsara is created again and again by following discursive thoughts.”

༼གཞན་བཟང་ངན་ང་ཚོས་ཤེས་རྒྱུ་མ་རེད།
“We should not perceive others as ‘good and bad’.
དུས་རྟག་ཏུ་བཟང་ངན་ཅི་ཡིན་འགྲེལ་བཤད་མ་རྒྱག
The texts explain that ‘good and bad’ do not exists as something permanent –
རང་གི་རང་ལུགས་སྲ་ཐག་ཐག་ཅིག
It is our own mind which is hard and solid.
མ་ནོར་མ་འཆུག་པ་ཤིག་འཛིན་ཨེ་ཐུབ་བལྟ་དགོས།
It is necessary to hold onto the certain view of the Buddha which is unmistaken and non-deviating.
དེ་ནི་ང་ཚོའི་འཕྲག་ལ་བབས་པའི་འགན་འཁྲི་ཡིན་ཞེས།༽
This, indeed, is our own responsibility, so it says.”

༼བདེ་སྡུག་རྩ་བ་རང་གི་སེམས་ལགས་པས།
“Your own mind is the root of happiness and suffering.
བཙའ་སྐྱོན་ཤེས་ན་ཕན་བདེའི་གཞི་མ་དང་།
If you realise its flaws and watch over it – that is the basis of happiness and well-being.
རང་ཁར་བཏང་ན་སྡུག་བསྔལ་རྒྱ་མཚོའི་རྒྱུ།
But if you let it run amok – that is the cause for the ocean of suffering.
ཇི་ལྟར་འདེམ་ཁ་ཤེས་ན་སྐྱེས་བུས་རབ།༽
Whoever knows the difference and makes the right choice is the great person.”
ཡོངས་འཛིན་སློབ་དཔོན་བསྟན་འཛིན་རྣམ་དག་རིན་པོ་ཆེ།
