Our projects

ARCHIVE

FPYB is building a digital archive as well as a library. Currently, our collection includes many digitalised recordings, photographs and publications, but there is much that still needs to be done. Many teachings have not yet been digitalised and although the cassettes are stored in ideal conditions, they should be safely backed up before it is too late.

ENGLISH FOR LAMAS

We have hosted two Bönpo Khenpos here as part of their EFL programmes. FPYB Founding Member Carol Ermakova is a qualified TEFL teacher and IELTS examiner with years of experience and 100% pass rate. We hope to be able to offer specialised English Language Training to more lamas in the future when funding becomes available.

TRANSCRIBING & TRANSLATING

For over two decades, Yongdzin Lopön Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche has taught Yungdrung Bön to Western students, directly, in English. We believe It is our duty and joy to preserve this tremendous legacy faithfully in both spirit and word for all practitioners and scholars. To date we have produced over 100 edited transcripts and translations but many teachings still have not been transcribed.

MULTIMEDIA

Our multimedia productions have proved very popular on YouTube, Facebook and elsewhere so we are planning to develop this branch of our activity. At the moment FPYB are working on several interactive presentations on topics such as historical overview of Yungdrung Bön, the Magical Deer, the lives of Bönpo sages, Bönpo art etc.

Processing oral teachings is a very lengthy job and we are desperately short of funds for this. Also, few people realise the costs involved in producing books (and other materials). Aside from the hours spent writing, translating, editing and proofreading, there is layout and cover design to be done, and this requires some advanced computer software as well as skill. Then once a book is published, FPYB is legally obliged to provide five Legal Deposit Libraries plus the British Library with a copy each at our own cost, which can run into hundreds of pounds a year. Our staff are all unpaid volunteers and we try to keep our books affordable, so we rely on your support to keep going.
